The City of Eagan's Advisory Parks Commission recommends that the Eagan City Council:
- support the application and direct City staff to apply for the Minnesota DNR Natural and Scenic Areas Grant program to secure funding for the protection of the Anderson parcel [up to $500,000 is available];
- direct City staff to work with the Trust for Public Land (TPL) to conduct a formal appraisal of the Anderson parcel;
- direct City staff to pursue funding from the Dakota County Farmland and Natural Areas Land Protection Program, including becoming active in the upcoming land eligibility criteria definition process;
- set aside up to 25% of the cost of the yet to be determined appraised value of the Anderson parcel, not to exceed $100,000, if the remaining appraised value of the parcel can be acquired using revenue from a combination of the sources listed below:
- Other relevant State grant programs;
- Grants and partnership with the Dakota County Farmland and Natural Areas Land Protection program;
- Non-profit land management and protection grants; and
- Private corporation community grants.
