Subject: Dakota County Board of Commissioners Declares October 1st, "Eagan Core Greenway Day"
Dear Friends of Eagan's Open Space,
During the Dakota County Board of Commissioners' meeting this week (Tuesday, Sept. 20th), the Board passed a resolution declaring October 1st "Eagan Core Greenway Day" to coincide with Friends of the Eagan Core Greenway's Fall Foliage Frolic.
Before passing the resolution, County Commissioners Nancy Schouweiler and Tom Egan (whose districts encompass the Eagan Core Greenway) thanked the Friends group for its effective partnering with the County --- for its role in the successful preservation of the Anderson parcel and the Caponi Art Park, and in initiating discussions which led to the donation to the County of a conservation easement covering 34 acres of the McCarthy Farm. All three of these properties are key pieces of the Eagan Core Greenway, a two-mile corridor of over 400 acres stretching from the McCarthy Farm in the north to Lebanon Hills in the south. "Friends" champions the Greenway because it serves as a large contiguous eco-system and wildlife corridor, and thus represents an invaluable community natural resource.
