Subject: February Friends of Patrick Eagan Park News

Dear Friends of Patrick Eagan Park,

Just a few brief updates:

  1. The Minnesota DNR's Metro Greenways Program recently succeeded in awarding the City of Eagan $8,000 to fund the City's proposed planning study on the Eagan Core Greenway. The grant is to be matched by the City. In all, $17,000 will be contracted to the Dakota County Soil & Water Conservation District office (SWCD) to conduct the study.
  2. Patrick McCarthy recently won his court case with developer Tolefson in Hastings. Barring an appeal on behalf of the developer, Patrick McCarthy should now be free to pursue his goal of preserving his family farm, which is located just north of Patrick Eagan Park. [More information on this as it becomes available.]

  3. The Friends of Patrick Eagan Park Steering Committee recently began a process designed to produce job descriptions for roughly eight to ten seats on its new Board. The group would like to see a new Board in place by the end of the first quarter of this year.

  4. This Thursday, February 13th, a handful of Friends of Patrick Eagan Park members will be presenting at the Eagan Advisory Parks Commission workshop. We are scheduled to present under New Business (around 7:45 p.m.) since we will be delivering a new action item. We will be asking the Parks Commission to pass a motion requesting that the Eagan City Council become actively involved with regional players who have expressed interest in contributing to the preservation of the Anderson property (located just south of the east entrance to Patrick Eagan Park). Interested parties include, the DNR's Metro Greenways Program, Dakota County, the Trust for Public Land, and others). Please consider attending to show your support. The workshop should take place in Rooms 2 A & B in Eagan's City Hall.

Thanks again for your support.
