Subject: Friends of Patrick Eagan Park Fall Foliage Frolic

Dear Friends,

Announcing: Our 3rd Annual Friends of Patrick Eagan Park Fall Foliage Frolic!

Date: Saturday, October 18th, 2003
Time:1:00 p.m. -- 4:00 p.m.
Place: Patrick Eagan Park

Schedule:

1:00 p.m. meet behind the Art House in the Patrick Eagan Park parking area.
1:30 p.m. hike begins (about 2 hours, a moderately paced activity with some hills involved)
3:30 p.m. wind up back at the trail head with local open space information available at the FOPEP table.
Snacks and beverages may also be available.
4:00 p.m. activities come to a close.

Leader: Steve Weston will lead the hike. Steve is a board member of the Minnesota River Valley Audubon Chapter. He is a member of the Minnesota Ornithologists Union and leads birding programs for Dakota County Parks. The hike will focus on the flora as well as the fauna to be found in the Park in mid-autumn.

Attractions: The autumnal leaves should be near their peak the weekend of the hike, so bring your camera! The hike may also visit the Caponi Art Park as well as the pond on the south side of the McCarthy Farm. The event will offer a great opportunity to meet other members of the group in a splendid natural, outdoor setting.

Additional Features: The day will also mark a transition for Friends of Patrick Eagan Park, which will be undergoing a face-lift starting this weekend, broadening its name in a manner consistent with its mission and activities over the past 18 months.
