Subject: City of Eagan -- Parks and Planning Commission Openings

Dear Friends of Eagan's Open Space,

This message contains three notices.

  1. Today (Friday, March 17th) is the deadline for applications to the City of Eagan's Advisory Commissions.
If you were considering applying for a seat on Eagan's Advisory Parks Commission or Advisory Planning Commission, information and application forms can be found on the City's Web site here: http://www.ci.eagan.mn.us/live/page.asp?menu=2021 . Again, it would be great if a number of friends of local open space would step up and apply. Do let us know if you do so. Thank you.
  2. For those wishing to follow the latest turn in the Carriage Hills law suit (Wensmann vs. the City of Eagan --- and Eagan's Appeal), key documents for the Appeal (briefs+) can now be found here (towards bottom of this Carriage Hills page): www.eagancoregreenway.org/carriage_hills.html
  3. Recall that the Eagan Foundation is currently serving as the fiscal agent for the Eagan Core Greenway Fund, which was initially established with the proceeds from last Fall's First Annual Greenway Music Festival. The Eagan Foundation provides community support in numerous ways, including tens of thousands of dollars in scholarships for local students. The Foundation's primary fund-raising event will take place on Thursday, April 20th --- a Wine & Cheese Party with a Silent Auction, at the Eagan Community Center. Please see below for more information, and do consider attending. Tickets for the event cost $35. [We hope to have a nice display of our activities at the event, and you should also have the opportunity to meet several fellow "Friends" there.]

Thank you and may your St. Patrick's Day be Happy & Green. ;---)

---Jack C.

P.S. News on this Fall's Second Annual Greenway Music Festival to follow next quarter.

The Eagan Foundation is hosting its 5th annual Wine Tasting and Silent Auction event on Thursday, April 20, 2006, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Eagan Community Center.

There will be lots of different wines to taste, nice food, some music, a variety of silent auction items, and a lot of nice people to mingle with!

As the community foundation for Eagan, the Foundation annually distributes scholarships donated by community businesses and organizations to graduating seniors living in Eagan; this year we will be distributing $44,000 in scholarships. The Foundation also recently partnered with the City of Eagan and the Eagan High School Student Government to raise funds to purchase and deliver audio visual equipment for the schools in Pass Christian Mississippi - you may have heard about it in the local papers and through the schools. The Foundation also assists the Eagan Teen Advisory Board and the Friends of Eagan Core Greenway conduct their activities to benefit the community. In past years, the Foundation was instrumental in raising and distributing community contributions for flood and storm relief, for moving the Grandfather Tree, and for construction of the Ice Arena. The mission of the Foundation is to be there when the Eagan community comes together to meet community needs. This Wine Event is the Foundation’s major fundraiser and public event of the year, the fundraiser that permits the Foundation to have resources to respond to needs in the community as they arise. Tickets are $35 per person and are tax deductible. Dress is business casual and many people come right from work. Please let me, Barb Blumer, know if you would like tickets and I will get them to you. Or you could email eaganfoundation@pclink.com. Please mention the event to other friends and colleagues in Eagan or elsewhere and I can get them tickets as well. It can be a fun party with friends, neighbors and other congenial people.

Hope to hear from you soon and to see you there! If you aren’t able to attend, please consider a donation to the Foundation instead. You give to the Eagan Community when you contribute to the Eagan Foundation.
