The Eagan City Council has finalized most of the details for the acquisition and preservation of Caponi Art Park. Two grants from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, a joint powers agreement between the city and Dakota County governing use of some of the 60-acre park, and three conservation easements were approved last week. The Art Park Board still needs to raise nearly $1.9 million to complete the deal, but the rest of the funding in the $5.4 million deal is secured. Owners Tony and Cheryl Caponi will have the right to live on a small portion of the land for the rest of their lives.
